PSHE & RSE

PSHE, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

QEII is a nurturing learning environment in which each pupil is encouraged to develop to their full potential and where their achievement and successes are celebrated and rewarded.

As a school, we believe that the pupils are all individuals and therefore, we aim to encourage mutual respect, responsibility and foster self-esteem in a happy and caring atmosphere.  The high quality teaching and learning of PSHE and RSE is crucial at our school which supports and upholds this vision.

The aims of PSHE and RSE education within QEII are to provide pupils with:

  • accurate and relevant knowledge
  • opportunities to create personal understanding
  • opportunities to explore and challenge a range of values, attitudes, beliefs, rights and responsibilities
  • a range of skills and strategies to live a healthy, safe, fulfilling, responsible and balanced life.

PSHE and RSE education cannot exist in isolation.  At QEII it is part of a whole school approach and our curriculum provides a range of opportunities for pupils to make links to other areas of learning and explore a wide range of social, moral, cultural and behaviour issues.

As a school, we aim to enrich the lives of our pupils by providing them with the skills and opportunities to apply their learning within and beyond the curriculum.  PSHE and RSE underpins our school ethos and is delivered as a rolling programme from Reception through to sixth form.

Through PSHE and RSE, we believe we can enhance the pupils’ education and help them become caring, respectful and confident individuals.
