At QEII we see a real benefit in our students, for whom it is appropriate, interacting with their mainstream peers.

The pupil outreach programme provides an opportunity for our pupils to participate in a planned session within a mainstream setting with their peers.  The pupil/pupils are supported by a member of school staff and the sessions are carefully selected and planned with the mainstream class teacher.

Currently we have links with a nursery and a number of primary/secondary schools in the Horsham area.  If it is felt that a pupil would benefit from accessing the programme, this will firstly be discussed with the parent/career at the pupil’s annual review and then the outreach co-ordinator would then look for an appropriate setting and staffing to support.
