We welcome visitors to our school and parents and carers who believe that their child may benefit from the education provided at QEII School can make contact with the school office to arrange a visit and meet the Head teacher.
Pupils are admitted to the school following statutory assessment and a completed Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Occasionally young pupils may be admitted while this assessment is in process, in agreement with West Sussex Children’s Authority.
West Sussex County Council is the admissions authority for QEII School and all decisions on placements are made by them after consultation with the school. For more information please go to the WSCC website by clicking here.
If an EHC Plan is not held but the process is begun, you should apply online with your mainstream school or college preference. By week 16 of the assessment process, they will decide whether an EHC Plan will be made. If a draft EHC Plan is issued, the Special Educational Needs Assessment Team (SENAT) will liaise with you about your preferences. You can then ask them to consider a place at a special school or a special support centre.
If an EHC Plan is held you should have already been contacted by the Special Educational Needs Assessment Team, who are responsible for making placements. You can express your school or college preference by contacting this team.
Once admission has been agreed, arrangements for entry are made by the Head teacher in conjunction with the Education Department.
The majority of children start QEII School at the start of each academic year in September. A small number join throughout the year either because they are moving into the area or once their statutory assessment is completed. QEII works closely with other agencies including portage, early years settings, other schools, health and social care professionals in addition to close liaison with families to ensure the transition into QEII School is successful for all our pupils.
Please see our admissions policy for further details.
