COVID Update 1st January 2021

1st January 2021
COVID Update Friday 1st January 2021.

QEII School will be open as planned from Monday 4th January. The only exception is that children classed as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable should STAY AT HOME unless they have a letter from their GP explicitly stating that they can attend school. (Parents/carers of children in this category should already be aware who they are.)

Additionally we would remind you to please not send your child to school if they are unwell, or if they have any symptoms of COVID at all.

Please see full details in the message from our Head Teacher below:

Dear Parents and Carers,

I know many of you will be anxious, for a number of reasons, regarding the return of pupils to school next week and wish for clarification as to how QEII will support pupils moving forward.

As you will be aware the Department for Education has instructed us that all pupils in special schools will return to full time education from Monday. Alongside this, we are being asked to implement a testing system that will have operational implications for us as a school.

The health and safety of your children and our staff is of the upmost importance. If you currently do not feel that you wish to send your child back to school until testing is established or until numbers across the area reduce then you will be supported. Remote learning will be in place for when a child is at home.

The guidelines that we have received now that we are in Tier 4 states that both adults and pupils that are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable should stay at home unless they have a letter supported by their GP stating they can attend school.

We will continue to do everything we can to bring as much structure and normality as possible to your children. Can I also ask that you support the school by not sending your child to school if they are poorly and if they are showing any symptoms of covid. Please do email office@qe2school.co.uk if you have any concerns or worries or contact us by phone from Monday.

The guidance we are receiving from the government is changing frequently. If we have any changes or updates to our current plans, I will inform you at the first opportunity.

We appreciate your ongoing support and understanding during these unprecedented times.

Wishing you safe, happy and healthy New Year.

Helen
