Community Support

QEII School is actively involved in supporting pupils with SEND in mainstream settings. We offer a point of contact for advice and support for anyone working with 0-25 year olds with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are happy to share our expertise with schools and settings to help enable children and young people to have successful education provision.

We have our own team of team teach instructors who support schools and individual pupils in a number of ways. This can be via email or a visit. Visits to support individual pupils generally involve discussion, observation, suggestions of strategies and the writing of a report. Training on positive approaches and strategies to support a range of needs are also offered.

Schools who have used this service have said

“Thank you so much for coming in, it was extremely useful. I had lots of positive feedback from staff.”

Our communication team is also available to advise on the use of a wide variety of communication aids, such as the use of Makaton, aided language boards and PODD books. They are happy to run training for staff and this too has had positive feedback.

“Thank you so much for your help today – the staff were really positive and one even commented on that they were shifting mindset.”

We also welcome visits to our school from staff across the community who would like to see the strategies we use in action and enhance their knowledge of working with pupils with SEND.

If you need any support in training or supporting pupils with SEND please contact us via the school office.
