Divers

Divers is a Key Stage One class consisting of eleven students in Years One and Two. We have a full time class teacher and three special support assistants each day, attending to the individual needs of our students.

Divers’ curriculum is taught through engaging and creative topics, inspired by the Cornerstones curriculum and adapted to the needs of each individual. Our learning is pupil-centred and supports Divers to develop their knowledge, understanding and wide range of life skills. In Divers, we use a variety of communication methods, including PECs, Makaton and Assisted Language Boards. Each day, Divers are given opportunities to develop their creativity, independence and sensory understanding.

Included in our weekly lessons is Drama and Art, delivered in a specially equipped creative arts studio. For our Phonics learning, we follow an adapted version of ‘Read, Write, Inc’. We also enjoy Enrichment Activities such as Forest School, Swimming and Rebound, which take place on termly rotation.
